To take care of your 18K gold and 925 Silver jewelry

To take care of your Jewelry

Silver jewelry :

925 silver, also called sterling silver, is an alloy of several metals. it is composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Copper makes it oxidize because of the humidity in the air, and in contact with the skin (which has a more or less acidic pH depending on the person).

It is advisable to store your silver jewelery in airtight boxes or pouches and preferably not in the bathroom.

Chemicals like lotions, perfume, or bleach can also accelerate silver oxidation. Remember to remove them before the shower, the spa or the swimming pool.

Gold jewelry :

18K gold is an alloy that consists of 75% pure gold and 25% other metals such as silver, copper or zinc depending on the color (rose gold, yellow gold or white gold).

Gold resists oxidation and corrosion. In other words, humidity and chemicals have no effect on this metal.

To keep your gold jewelry and precious stones shiny, nothing beats cleaning with hot soapy water (dishwashing liquid), with the help of a toothbrush to dislodge dirt. In general, it is chemicals such as soap or lotions that get on your jewelry and under your stones that make them dull.

Regarding white gold, as it is composed above all of 75% gold, it has a yellowish color before polishing. A rhodium bath is applied to all white gold jewelery to make them perfectly white. It is necessary to redo this treatment on average every 2 years (depending on the pH of your skin).

Jewelry with natural pearls :

The pearls must not be in contact with chemicals, this could damage the mother-of-pearl. Take them off to take the shower, go to the spa or the swimming pool or when you wear perfume. You can rinse them with clear water if they have been in contact and wipe them with a soft cloth.

For all jewelry :
